Thank you very much for this interview. How is 2025 going for you so far?
2025 has been an incredible year for us. We’ve launched our new SAGA residency at Chinois Ibiza, which feels like a fresh, inspiring chapter, and it’s giving us so much creative energy. We just released our first single of the year ‘Heavy On My Mind feat. SKYE’ on our label Human By Default. We’re off to a great first half of the year!
You’ve started a new residency at Chinois Ibiza, what has this change brought you?
Moving SAGA to Chinois has given us a new canvas with a venue that shares our philosophy—diversity, connection, community. It’s a more intimate space, sonically and visually aligned with our world-music ethos.
You’ve already held several parties as part of this new residency. How would you evaluate it so far?
We just had the opening night this past weekend so it’s hard to give a broad evaluation but so far so good. The energy on Sunday night was really strong…we felt connected to the dance floor. We have a feeling this summer is going to go down in the history books as one of the best we’ve had.
Whenever we ask about your events, the most common answer is that they’re magical. What’s the secret behind that special connection with the crowd?
We aim to create a journey—not just a party. Our music in combination with storytelling visuals and decorations transports people. It’s about weaving space, culture, and emotion into a unified experience.
Saga is a globally recognized brand. Can you tell us how this journey began?
Saga began in 2017 on the island of Ibiza, at Guy Laliberté’s visionary venue Heart. That’s where Brigitte Armengol—our Creative Director since day one—joined forces with us to shape Saga’s identity. From those early nights at Heart (now reborn as Chinois Ibiza), the concept resonated: a weekly journey weaving melodic house with global heritage sounds .
Under Brigitte’s creative guidance each party was crafted as a multisensory narrative, blending visuals, storytelling, and sonic depth. Over time, that singular night in Ibiza organically grew into a global movement. Saga has traveled through Istanbul, Marrakech, NYC, Barcelona, London, Los Angeles, Tulum, and beyond—taking that original Heart ethos to dancefloors worldwide while staying true to our roots.
Beyond your sound, we’re struck by the deep connection between you two. Do you think having a bond that goes beyond the professional is important for a duo?
Absolutely. Our connection as friends and travelers is the heart of Bedouin. It informs how we improvise, communicate on stage, and create—it's essential. Without that deeper bond, the project wouldn't sustain the authenticity it has.
How much of your sets are improvised, and how much is pre-planned?
It’s always a blend. We come prepared with a narrative—a journey shaped by mood, energy, and emotion—but we leave plenty of space to adapt in the moment. We’ll always play our new and upcoming releases. You can expect to hear our latest track Heavy On My Mind, almost every week, along with unreleased tracks like Horizon, Reason, and Power. But if the crowd leans into deeper house or more Afro sounds, we shift with them. That spontaneity is part of the magic and we’re always exploring in real time.
When and how did your love affair with Ibiza begin?
We had both been to the island before as travelers, but our connection to Ibiza really began in 2017, when Saga launched at HEART. That’s where our creative partnership with Brigitte Armengol also began, and together we built Saga into something immersive and genre-defying. Ibiza became more than just a place we played—it was where we shaped an entire world, blending sound, storytelling, and visual art in a way that felt deeply personal.
What were those early days on the island like?
Our first nights at HEART were unforgettable—incense, flowing drapes, dancers... we transformed the space into something that felt like a desert oasis. People still tell us it felt like stepping into another dimension each week. That sense of transformation is something we’re aiming to recapture this year at Chinois.
What’s your take on the current state of the electronic music scene? Are we living through one of its best moments in history?
We are living through a beautifully vibrant moment. We are excited to see this world of electronic music embraced by so many talented artists and not just producers. Electronic music has certainly matured over the last decade in both musical discipline and creativity. We do aim to find music that goes beyond the current genres or well known staples of music at any given point. It’s exciting to find songs that break the mold. People want authenticity and cultural fusion, and that feels like a revival of electronic music's roots…explorative and human.
You’re constantly traveling and performing around the world. How do you balance your professional career with your personal life?
That's a tough one when there is no end to your work day and when you do what you love! We spend as much time as possible with our family which is really grounding for us.
Are you currently working in the studio? Any upcoming tracks or projects we should look out for?
We’ve got a lot in the pipeline—new singles, collaborations, and unreleased music we’ve been testing in our sets. We just released our first track of the summer, Heavy On My Mind, with Robin M and Skye Edwards of Morcheeba. Coming up next are Horizon, Reason, Power, and more.
We always like to ask: is there a young artist who’s caught your attention lately?
Keep an eye on our label, Human By Default. We’re putting out some incredible music from emerging artists we truly believe in…names you might not know yet, but you will soon.
Some names include Nandu, Santiago Garcia, Radeckt, UVITA, OSFUR…but there’s too many to name. Just check out the label…you won’t be disappointed!
For Bedouin, electronic music is…
…a universal language—a space where ancestral sounds, global rhythms, and human emotion meet on equal ground. It’s a way to connect hearts across cultures and dance floors around the world.
